Chevron/Texaco

It is very clear that each of these two news reports are one sided. The 60 Minutes report clearly takes the side of the plaintiffs, where as the second video takes the side of the defendants (Chevron). In the 60 Minutes report they usual visual aids showing oil pits and old barrels with Texaco logos. They also intensely question the Chevron representative and make her look unprepared where as when they talk to the Ecuadorians and their representatives, they seem to agree with everything they are saying and make the viewer feel bad for them.

In the second news report they have several interviews with Chevron consultants who have respectable backgrounds in science and seem to make the Ecuadorians uneducated and naive. They show evidence through visual aids and interviews of the Ecuadorian representatives to be biased and to be cutting corners in their reporting.

After watching each video I believed what I heard and changed my mind in who was the culprit and who was right or wrong. This shows how persuasive the media can be.
